Detroit Dam

I made a quick stop at the Detroit Dam on my way home this weekend. I couldn't even tell you how many times I have been over the pass in my life, but this was the first time I actually stopped and took a moment to check it out.

It's a pretty amazing place, you definitely don't realize how high the whole thing is until you are looking right over the edge!

This definitely makes me want to slow down and take a look around at what's really around me. We're missing out on so much when we get caught up go-go-go of life.

I hung out with Kalie and Jaci for a few hours on New Year's Day, I was Kalie's coach a few years ago and have been bugging her since July to let me take her pictures! She finally gave in and even brought along a friend.

These two crazy girls from Prineville kept me entertained to say the least, with their great energy and enthusiasm! I can tell that the fun never stops with these two around, we were laughing all morning and I'm pretty sure it didn't stop after I was gone. We went to a few random locations before we strolled around downtown Bend, only to discover that the streets and sidewalks aren't the prettiest places to see the morning after all the New Year's celebrating is over... we definitely had to watch our step!

Sara and Art are expecting their first little one in February & they've decided to be surprised - boy or girl!!

I knew Art from back in my firefighting days and was so excited to here the great news baby on the way :) Sara was awesome and was up for any little adventure I wanted to try in the sake of photography! Thanks for being a trooper Sara and hiking all over the place! Art you did pretty good yourself & CONGRATULATIONS!

I met Rob & Karrie in Bend last weekend and we enjoyed a long stroll around a snow covered Drake Park and through the back ally-ways of downtown, all the while we got to know each other and snapped some photos of course!

These two are a very fun couple who like to have a good time and make each other laugh. They prefer black and whites to color photos, but I just had to sneak in some of the great fall colors in a few posts!

They're off on a new adventure to the Mid-West, but they'll be back in July :) I am excited to shoot their wedding next summer in Bend!!

A Sweet Event - Ladies Night Out!

I was invited to shoot a Ladie's Night Out, hosted by Angela Sweetman of A Sweet Event. I met the three wedding planners, Angela, Angela and Shannon, at The Oxford Hotel downtown Bend and enjoyed some small talk while I snapped away and the girls got their makeup done by Beautiful by Terri and dressed up for the evening.

Our first stop of the evening was FIVESPICE FUSION & SUSHI BAR. We were shown upstairs to our beautiful table and were pampered and served the most amazing seafood I have ever had; not to mention some pretty tasty drinks ;) The restaurant was amazing and the staff was absolutely accommodating.

Our last stop of the evening was VELVET, a restaurant and bar located on Wall St. downtown Bend. We found a cozy couch upstairs next to the bar and enjoyed the end of the night with some awesome drinks and atmosphere!

I had a great time with these ladies and all of our adventures! We ate some great food, had some delicious drinks and met some fantastic people!

My Les Schwab Story

As I was pulling away from my second FREEZING cold session last Saturday, I noticed that Tawny was flagging me down..

....I had a flat tire....

To my luck Cody is the assistant manager at the Les Schwab down there in Lakeview and he definitely helped me out! We all jumped into their pickup & drove back into town to get one of the Schwab rigs. Cody aired up my tire so I could drive into the shop to get my tire fixed! The Chapmans hung out with me while the Schwabs guys pulled the nail out of my tire and patched it up! Wow. All on his day off too!

This is why I love small towns, AND Les Schwab!!

Talk about being at the right place with the right people!

San Diego

We are in San Diego for a long weekend and some much needed time off for both of us!

We flew in yesterday to this dreary, gray weather that we blamed on bringing the Oregon weather with us... but after walking around the gloomy San Diego beaches and seeing some of the sites for a couple hours we finally came back to our room to rest and relax. Little did I know that Dylan had a bit more in mind for our day; getting down on one knee and asking me that big questions!! I said YES!!!!

Today was a very fun day of exploring, including a ferry ride out to Coronado with some much better weather than yesterday.

Great trip so far, can't wait for the ZOO tomorrow!

I met with Tori and her mom Denise Sunday morning to take some senior pictures in Lakeview! Small town Lakeview was at it again... Tori & Denise invited me to ride with them and as soon as I jumped in the car I recognized Denise, an old high school friend of my parents that we used to get together with in Bend as I was growing up!

I had a great time with these two beautiful ladies, I got to hear some great stories about the old farm we were shooting at & we came up with some pretty fun angels! I even caught a couple of those serious faces :)

I met Alyssa and her mom at Hollinshead Park, my old stomping grounds, earlier this week for some senior photos :) It was pretty easy to take pictures of the easy going senior! She was super laid back and up for whatever I wanted her to do, not to mention beautiful. We even played around with some night shots after we got caught in the DARK! So sad that it's getting dark at 8:00!

I got to spend a Saturday evening with the Ashby's, one of my families from Evergreen Academy! I had the wonderful privilege to take the pictures at my cousin Ted's wedding a couple weekends ago. These two met working at Papa Murphy's in Portland. Fun thing is, he is from Medford, she is from Klamath Falls, so close all their lives :) They had the most beautiful wedding day full of pink, smiles and even a little bit of rain. And with the rain came a rainbow which is a lovely little symbol of luck!

I love these two very much and wish them all the congratulations in the world! And I know they will have a wonderful life together!

Car Show

We went down town yesterday and took in the Flashback CRUZ 2011, it was amazing! The cars seemed to go on forever and were jam-packed into Drake Park & there were people eveywhere. We saw some beautiful cars, some fun cars, & some crazy cars, there was even a vintage 1942 camper that had been refurbished, flat screens and all!

I spent the evening with my cousins tonight, who are in Bend for the weekend to run the Haulin’ Aspen Trail Marathon. Jeremy is going to be a senior this year, so we met out at Shevlin Park and hung out a bit while we took his senior pictures! I even got Kayla to pose for a couple shots :) Such a beautiful girl!

It's pretty crazy how it seems like the 'little cousins' are catching up with me in age!

Called up a couple of my volleyball girls this weekend for a little photo shoot. We walked around Drake Park and it seemed like the girls knew every other person we passed! Last Weekend in Central Oregon

Well, last Saturday started bright and early in my world. I got up at 5:30 and headed down to River Bend Park to watch the hot air balloons of Balloons Over Bend take off, along with dozens other Bendites. It was a beautiful morning and there were plenty of picture opportunities! My favorite were the geese hangin' out in the river who didn't even seem to notice the giant, colorful balloons floating all around them :)

The rest of the day Saturday we took in the Centurion Cycling race down town, had some dinner with friends and went to the Balloons Over Bend night glow which was the perfect way to end the day and do a little people watching.

Ahhh Bend.

Bend Summer Fest

Well, after I had a very interesting day were pretty much nothing went according to plan, an hour and a half walk, a sunburn, an encounter with some not very well behaved teens at the kiddy-park and a very well deserved snooze, I headed down to catch the end of Summer Fest! Had a great time running into friends I don't ever get to see and people watching was a must! To cap of the evening, Dylan and I made our third trip to Cup-a-Yo this week :)

It's pretty amazing all that this wonderful little town of Bend has to offer and then summer hits and everything goes into an even higher gear!! Summer Fest was a good time & I definitely plan on heading back down tonight with some friends.

The Butte is on FIRE!

So yet again the fire works production on Pilot Butte did a little more than just provide the firework show... it had the inevitable Butte Fire. We all seem to think that they should have this completely figured out by now, after all these years...why does the butte catch fire year after year??? Well I'll stand up on their side :) I think there's going to be flames happening no matter what! And they did have all of this years little spot fires knocked down before the show was even over! :)

I spent the afternoon down town with Dylan, walking around and taking in all the 4th of July activities and spectacles Bend has to offer. It was definitely a site to see all of the crazy costumes the Bendites came up with for the Freedom Bike Ride and all the creative artwork set up in the booths at Drake Park. The day even included lunch at McMenamins and even more entertainment!

Now, we're getting ready to BBQ with some friends and watch the fireworks on Pilot Butte!

Kaycee found Hermy the Wormy!

One of the kids favorite outside activities is to find all the bugs on the play ground. Mostly 'juniors' and tiny green caterpillars. Today Kaycee found this giant one! It was a pretty popular find for sure. My favorite part of all this is having all the little kiddos say caterpillar over and over! SO CUTE!

High Desert THunderstorm

A couple nights ago I woke to the most amazing desert thunderstorm. The kind I remember watching when I was a kid here in Bend, where the lightening seems to be right above your head, and the thunder takes a couple minutes to start and when it does it's the kind that starts close and then rolls away into the distance... The best kind.

I got up to close all the windows in the house and check the cars and met all my neighborsout on their porches watching the storm with their families, all bundled up in blankets and pajamas.

Today was my little Bella's last day for a month : ( She's heading back east to visit all her family and to "play with Nana and Maya and Nikki!" She was so excited, she even said she would catch a firefly for me because I've never seen one! "They are as big as fire trucks!"

I'm going to miss her so much while she's gone, but at least I'll get to have her in my class for a little longer before she moves up...

True Blood

We have a tradition with another couple, where we get together make dinner, have dessert and watch True Blood on Sunday nights. Tonight was the season premier for this year and we were excited to continue our tradition!

Landon here is always excited to entertain company and tonight was no different. We enjoyed playing waving games and watching him meander around discovering all sorts of fun things we hadn't moved far enough out of reach :)

Well for me the hardest part of my job is taking the detail pictures; rings, shoes, accessories etc. It is fun to arrange and moving things around, but in all honesty they are posed.... Were with my photography I prefer to take more natural photographs, getting special angles that others may not see or catching those moments that go unseen. So, these are just some practice shots I took of some borrowed wedding bands :)

Gardening Surprise

I took the two girls that I had today, Friday, and we got to plant some flowers to end our gardening week! They couldn't wait!

Not too long into our digging we found a little friend, 'Mr. Wormy.' Alahna was so excited she could not wait to hold him, while Bella was a little more hesitant.

Surprise Trip to the Lake

I told my boyfriend that we were taking a trip tonight. All he had to do was pick the vehicle to get us there; motorcycle or jeep... he picked motorcycle.

When I got home from work I made up a quick picnic dinner and we headed out to Scout Lake! The trip was a little chili up past Sisters, but so beautiful. At the lake we found a little spot in the sun, enjoyed our wraps, with an adorable little duck not too far away from any scraps that may fall, and we caught up with each other a bit. Such a great evening to lead us into the weekend!

Pink Shoe (laces??)

When I was young my cousins and I used to dress up in old 80s prom dresses and dance around the living room in perfectly choreographed routines for all the grown ups to watch and we always danced to Dodie Stephens, "Pink Shoelaces," on tape! It is something I will always remember and be so thankful that its not on video!!!

Today I got my hands these cute little pink shoes I get to see everyday. I just can't pass up the cuteness and wish they made them in my size!!

Yesterday I woke up dreading my drive home... not looking forward to spending four hours straight in the car, I came up with a brilliant plan! I decided to take a small detour and drive through Eugene and surprise DAD on his special day! He was completely surprised!!! It was so much fun to see the smile on his face when I drove up :)

After my visit with Dad I headed back to Bend and spent the evening at the Aune home and enjoyed some delicious home made apple pie, a new four legged friend and some amazing stories of a recent trip to Norway!

I love my family.

Today, I payed a visit to one of the two parks I grew up near. The park is much improved from what I remember as a kid and is a very busy little place!

My tid-bit: I do not remember one time that I went to the Hollinshead Community Garden to play that we didn't get yelled at by someone at the park. Well this time around was was no different. During my stroll through today, as an adult, I was scolded by a woman tending to her garden. I was just there enjoying the day and snapping a few pictures, but she was not a fan of me being in there! :) All in all she made for a funny story & I wont be forgetting this little visit any time soon.
